Lightning Talks

Description: Join us for the next in our very popular series of Lightning Talks, where speakers talk about their lives and their businesses.

Speakers:

Jeremy Borg - Wine and Wilddogs: How Southern Africa's most endangered carnivore inspires a wonderful business, great wine and sustainable conservation funding.

Jeremy is co-founder and winemaker Painted Wolf Wines. His path into the wine trade started with selling wine for small California wineries as part of the winemaking team at Rosenblum cellars, where he developed basic winemaking skills. He also attended UC Davis for short winemaking and viticulture courses.

He then set up a wine consulting business and the first Borg Family Shiraz was made in 1995 from excess grapes offered to Jeremy and his wife, Emma, at the last minute.

Today Jeremy and Emma aim to make wines that are as interesting, exciting and individual as wild dogs. Painted Wolf also contributes to the conservation of other endangered species to a charity called Children in the Wilderness. The total sum donated to date exceeds R3 million.

June Whiteman: Alien on an island: How we came to live on the Isle of Man

June is an experienced Virtual Assistant based on the Isle of Man, providing expert online support to help grow businesses.

A woman moulded by life. Mother to 4 girls; 2 step-daughters, Saffron and Nandi, who made me think that motherhood was a walk in the park and 2 daughters of our own, Bonnie and Jo, who proved it isn't. Wife to a wonderful man called Martin who has taught me to love and value myself far more than I give myself credit for. An introvert, I adapted to becoming a Virtual Assistant in 2016 with ease, and I hope grace.

Thanks to my wonderful clients, doors continue to open to reveal a world I never knew existed. It's been like stepping into Narnia and I feel the adventure has just begun.
