Event:

Is South Africa Really "Open for Business"?

Description: President Cyril Ramaphosa says SA is “Open for Business”, is this really the case?

Francois Basson, Robert Moodie, Luke Govender, Nick Latta, Tshepo Ncube & Graham Blackbeard discuss how to make South Africa, and particularly Johannesburg and Gauteng, attractive to international investors. This event was organised in conjunction with the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Speakers
Francois Basson, Robert Moodie, Luke Govender, Nick Latta, Tshepo Ncube & Graham Blackbeard

Our panel will include:

• Nick Latta, Prosperity Counsellor, British High Commission, Pretoria
• Tshepo Ncube, ABSA’s Head Global Corporates and Power Utility Infrastructure
• Luke Govender, Director: Export Promotion, Export Development, Promotion and Outward Investment
• Graham Blackbeard, MD, Southern Implants
• Robert Moodie, Trade Forward Southern Africa
• Francois Basson, Head of Exports, Cape Gate

Speakers will provide input from both the SA and UK governments, give an economic perspective gleaned from working with internationally trading corporates, report on what conditions are like on the ground, suggest how SMEs can be supported, and deconstruct the big wins achieved and challenges faced.

This is intended to be a practical session, as opposed to a theoretical one, and you'll also be able to pose your own questions to the panel. We hope this will provide our audience with solutions you can implement back at the office, whether you're an importer or exporter in either the UK or SA, or your focus is trading within Africa.
