Event:

The Influence of Geopolitical Events on Corporate Governance

Description: As the international community's policy response to the situation in Ukraine talkes shape, the international business impacts of Russia's actions are already being felt and are likely to intensify.Whether in strategic consequences for firms like BP or financial institutions with holdings in Russia, wider macroeconomic and financial markets volatility, severe impacts on key commodities and raw material markets, interruptions to cross-border transactions from financial sanctions and cyber or supply chain disruption - to name but a few - it's clear the business impacts of this geopolitical event touch many different aspects of corporate performance.

Guest Speaker Derek Leatherdale is a Lead Instructor and Course Developer for the DCRO Institute's Geopolitical Risk Governance Course, providing boards, heads of risk and risk functions with practical advice to ensure their organisations can thrive in a volatile world.

Derek supports companies across industry sectors to develop resilience and thrive amidst increasing global geopolitical volatility. Founder of HSBC's group geopolitical risk function and Associate Director at the Risk Coalition, leading Risk Thinking on corporate management of geopolitical risk. Co-author of 'The Extra G - ESG Squared: principles-based guidance for geopolitical risk oversight and its integration with ESG issues for boards, risk committees and risk functions'.

The session will start with a presentation, then we will open the floor to debate and questions.

This event will be video recorded for public viewing at a later date.
