Event:

South Africans: Just Make It Happen

Description: You are cordially invited to join us for a webinar discussing entrepreneurship with Kerryne Krause, Eiren Drake, Thendo Makgatho-Tlou & Portio Dlamini, from 12pm to 1pm BST / 1pm to 2pm SAST on Tuesday, 10th May.

These four fantastic South African entrepreneurs have taken the next step from having conceptualised an idea, to creating respected, flourishing enterprises. Entrepreneurs are more than just business owners - they come up with original and innovative ideas, and take a risk on themselves.

For many, their concepts are built on a deep desire to replicate an experience or create a change in an community they belong to. Increasing sustainable employment opportunities, proving a process or product can be environmentally friendly - or even beneficial - and inspiring the next generation.

A prerequisite for success is to be passionate and self-motivated. Finding the courage to act on ideas, embracing a multitude of challenges - often at your own expense - in order to build a legacy, generate new wealth and impact those around you.

From cosmetics, food products, cleaning services, to wound care, these four entrepreneurs have educated themselves in a plethora of subjects - financial awareness, teaching others, and how to become a market player who is able to align their product development with the tastes, needs and aspirations of their target market.

Each one of our guests are people with an Empowerment Mission to enable others & transform lives.

Join us as we listen to the journey through entrepreneurship of these four diverse individuals.

This event is free, but booking is essential. Zoom links will be sent out in the 24 hours prior to the event.

Meet our panelists:

Kerryne Krause
Kerryne, who calls herself "The Chief Excitement Officer", is the founder and CEO of I-Slices Innovations, a Top Technology 100 Company Award Winner in SA.
I-Slices® Technology - a first in the world - is a unique Cryogel dermal delivery system with its applications in the cosmetics, veterinary & medical industries. Manufactured in SA (in a globally unique facility) and exported to various countries since 2007, eyeSlices® (the first of a range of innovations) is a proudly South African story that spans more than 10 years of Research & Development. It is a story of perseverance, resourcefulness and overcoming a multitude of obstacles in the advanced manufacturing & life sciences technology space. The Company has further developed ranges for the pharmaceutical industries, treating burns, wounds and providing other skin rejuvenating benefits.
The company’s big hairy audacious goal is to build a globally recognized brand and develop products that change lives!

Eiren Drake
The business is the brainchild of Eiren Drake and his late grandfather Spencer Drake.
The two began constructing a canning plant in Tzaneen in 2017 and launched it amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. They started producing their flagship product line that same year - a 400g can of chicken feet and necks.
According to co-founder Eiren Drake, the idea of canning chicken feet and necks comes from his upbringing in rural Limpopo.
“As a young boy, I spent a significant amount of time with my late grandfather's employees, whose children were my friends and playmates. It was then that I was first introduced to the widely loved and consumed dish of chicken feet, which very quickly became one of my favourite meals - and it still is today!”
Tin Stuf is a canning company based in Limpopo, selling canned chicken feet and necks at Shoprite stores around the country. But the journey to this point has been one of immense hard work - and personal tragedy.

Thendo Makgatho-Tlou
More commonly known as 'Ms T', Thendo believes that a good quality education was one of the things that opened doors for her to work in global markets.
She is a qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and a Financial Coach. She has worked for global companies in South Africa, Shanghai, USA and has just tapped into the UK market servicing clients as an experienced Internal & External Auditor, Risk & Project Manager and Management Consultant.
It gives her great pleasure to serve alongside KHULA to make this a reality for the many children that are in its care. Serving on the board of KHULA is an honour and her way of giving back and contributing to society in a positive and meaningful way, one child at a time.

Portio Dlamini
After a successful career in the manufacturing industry over approximately 10 years, Portio realised how unfulfilled she felt. She had a desire and a passion to change her life and that of her Community. After much thought, research, preparation and a few years of overcoming her fears, Portio decided to start a cleaning & hygiene business, with the intention of building a company that would empower and transform the lives of the Cleaners who worked with her - an Empowerment Mission.
Her thinking that would be a straightforward progression was quickly replaced with an understanding of just how much courage, determination and hard work it would take.
“The first 3 to 4 years in business were extremely tough and intense to a point where I nearly gave up because of the hardships. Yet at the same time, that was a season where my character was shaped and developed strongly…I persevered and endured hardships like a soldier until I broke through.”
Portio credits a large part of her success so far to the “tremendous and consistent support” of her
mentors, coaches, and teachers as well as a great deal of personal work on breaking negative mental strongholds and building positive mindsets.
Portio lives by the words of her life coach, “Success is 90% Preparation and 10 % Opportunity.” Continue to prepare and develop, UNTIL opportunity comes.
