Gauteng Chapter Launch - Livestream
|Description: ||You are cordially invited to join the South African Chamber of Commerce (UK) for the launch of our Gauteng Chapter - the third of our Chapters to be launched in South Africa following the successful launches of the KZN and Cape Chapters. The launch will take place in Johannesburg and be livestreamed for other members to participate from 08:30am BST / 09:30am SAST on Wednesday, 25th May.
This event will launch the Gauteng Chapter of S A Chamber UK, complementing the SA footprint and the international Chapters and Special Interest Chapters.
After hearing from our hosts we will have a conversation with prospective members to share what value the Chamber can offer and understand the needs of the local business needs to further tailor our offering and engagement.
We shall share our greater global vision of SA Chamber networks and how we can provide relevant networking opportunities locally, regionally and internationally giving you insights on fostering global trade and access to the UK market.
Jerry Botha, of Tax Consulting, our hosts for the event, will present a short but information-packed talk on the services they provide to help their clients manage their tax liabilities.
Dr Wendy Orr, Group Head of Inclusion for the Standard Bank Group, will also make a presentation. Wendy is a medical doctor who has worked in the areas of equity, transformation, and diversity and inclusion since 1999. Wendy’s career path turned from medicine to diversity and inclusion after she had served three years as a Commissioner on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of South Africa, and since then she has worked for Wits University, as a private consultant, and for Absa Capital before joining Standard Bank in 2012. She gained her reputation as a defender of Human Rights as a result of her successful application for a Supreme Court interdict against the police to stop them from assaulting and torturing political detainees in 1985.
Having joined Standard Bank in 2008 Simon first spent 2 years working from the bank’s Nairobi office as an East African Economist. In his current role, Simon is the bank’s dedicated South Africa political economist, primarily serving both the local and international corporate and institutional investor communities. For the past seven years (2015 - 2021) Simon has been ranked 1st in South Africa in the Political Analysis category of the Financial Mail’s annual Ranking the Analysts Awards; while in 2010 Simon also led a team which was ranked 1st in the Other African Economies and Markets category.
