Executive Committee Member Recruitment

The South African Chamber of Commerce UK is a dynamic not for profit, umbrella organisation, which acts as a conduit for trade, community and investment into and out of South Africa. The SACC UK aims to bring under one concerted effort, a forum and meeting point for businesses who have an interest in both the UK and South Africa in an attempt to facilitate the development of business opportunities.

SACC UK provides a strong and influential voice for the business community, helping to promote South Africa as a world class destination for doing business. We are currently recruiting for the above roles. These roles are vital in the effective running of the SACC UK, which relies on volunteer assistance. [In return for your assistance, participation and guidance, you will receive the opportunity to network within an enviable group of contacts, attend some high profile events….] The details are as follows:


1. Serve and represent the interests of members
2. Assist in improving procedures, processes and operational activities
3. Provide operational and strategic advice to the Chairperson and the Board
4. Grow membership by recruiting new members,
5. Implement the strategic objectives set by the Directors and Board, assist with the drafting and implementation of the business plan
6. Attend Executive Committee meetings and Chamber Connects events once a month
7. Promote the SACC UK in your everyday interactions
8. Provide assistance and guidance to the Directors in your area of expertise and within your sub-committees
9. Assistance with media and public relations – broadcast, print, TV and radio etc. where necessary
10. Assistance with events co-ordination and management
11. Represent the Chamber locally, nationally and internationally as required by the Directors

Person Specification

These are visible roles within the SACC UK. Candidates will have experience in one or more of the following sectors but not limited to:
• Marketing
• PR & Communications
• Law
• Accounting
• Sales
• Research


• Self motivated but able to work collaboratively within a small team or as part of the larger Committee.
• A natural team player and knowledge-sharer who shares and applies best practice for the benefit of the business and the team
• ‘Can do’ attitude to addressing challenges and opportunities.

You will then be shortlisted for a role and invited to attend an Executive Committee meeting and a Chamber Connects event before confirmation of your acceptance for the role is received. Appointments will be made formally, in line with the Constitution of the SACC UK, at the next AGM to be held on 6 May 2015. Appointees will need to be members in good standing.
