help2read is a UK registered charity (number 1109567) which raises funds for a sister organisation in South Africa (registered Non-Profit 063-979). Our vision is to empower children who are struggling to learn to read (in English), so that they have greater confidence, improved literacy levels and better life chances. We have a dedicated team of volunteers and literacy tutors, who have been selected and trained by our staff in South Africa. help2read provides literacy programmes with weekly one-to-one sessions for children aged 7 – 10 over an academic year. These sessions are tailored and appropriate to each child’s ability and are designed to be fun. As well as creating more confident learners, teachers highlight improved ability to read aloud in class following participation in the help2read programme.
