The topic of this talk will be: Equality Jobs and the Threat to African Democracy - The Role of The Africa's Entrepreneurs  and the Diaspora in Promoting Sustainable Growth and Job Creation on the Continent.

Lord Boateng, the Anti Apartheid Activist, former Treasury Cabinet Minister and High Commissioner to South Africa will reflect on some contemporary political and economic challenges with particular reference to ECOWAS, the EAEC and SADEC.

The Rt Hon The Lord Boateng PC DL ,a Civil liberties lawyer and anti-Apartheid activist, was formerly MP for Brent South (1987-2005), served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury in Tony Blair's Cabinet and as British High Commissioner to SA from 2005 -2009.

He is currently Chairman of the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund, a $250 million multi donor Nairobi based fund for agri and renewables in Sub Saharan Africa. He is on the Advisory Board of a number of companies in the UK and the US and serves on the Joint Security Strategy Committee of the U.K. Parliament.

Lord Boateng is Chairman of the English Speaking Union, the International Council of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and BookAid International as well as a Governor of the LSE and Trustee of the Planet Earth Institute, a UK and African NGO working for the scientific emancipation of Africa.
