Is it legislation, funding, government, long term thinking, innovation, talent, technology or a combination of these? Our upcoming event will consist of two panel debates with investors, private sector, UK government, financiers, education and project managers, with a purpose to delve into the complexity of big infrastructure investment. In a world that requires the environment and our communities to be front of mind, infrastructure projects can deliver these outcomes, but they are long term, complex and there are many competing agendas across geographies. South Africa requires education, upliftment of communities and provision of utilities to reduce its carbon footprint and to generate employment. Investment in infrastructure development from power stations to solar energy, ports, rail networks, roads, buildings, bridges and dams present significant opportunities to propel the growth of the South African economy. The panel debates will also delve into the allocation of funding in relation to ESG focused projects and the envisaged role of government. We will discuss the UK’s interest as a key investor in this sector from a government and private sector perspective. Panellists will include speakers from SA and UK, from relevant infrastructure sectors and the seminar will be hosted by SACC Chairman, Sharon Constançon. Confirmed speakers so far are:
