Ubuntu emphasizes the interconnectedness and importance of community, fostering a sense of togetherness and collaboration.

Our virtual networking events offer numerous benefits such as:
• Expanding professional connections, in the UK and SA
• Knowledge sharing
• Exchanging ideas and business challenges
• Unlocking career opportunities
• Enhancing visibility
• Fostering a sense of emotional support and camaraderie

Mohamed Cassimjee will be joining us as the guest speaker for this event to give his view on what impact the SA election may have on the country.

The South African General Elections on 29th May 2024, could be a watershed moment for South Africa, as it could result for the first time, in a coalition led government. Since the democratic elections were held in 1994, the African National Congress has been the majority party. The focus will therefore be on the opposition parties and to determine if they can grow their support. At both national and provincial levels, a febrile atmosphere is palpable in SA, as the country prepares for elections and for the possibility of coalition politics in SA.

Mohamed Cassimjee was a senior diplomat for South Africa for over 26 years. He served as Deputy Ambassador to Germany from 2016-2020, and prior to that served abroad in Washington DC, Uganda and Senegal. He has served in various positions at the Department of International Relations including: Director of the African Union; German Speaking Countries/Nordics/Baltics; Latin America/Caribbean and the European Union. Prior to joining the foreign service, he was an Advocate (Barrister) in South Africa. He is a mentor at the Blavatnik School of Government and a Research Associate at the Centre for African Studies at Oxford University. He is also Director at the SA Chamber of Commerce (UK). He has consulted and presented on geopolitics to government, business chambers, risk consultancies and academia in the UK. He has also written on foreign policy for the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) and on the South African elections in 2024, for Chatham House
