The Breakfast Indaba Putney has proved very successful, allowing business people to proactively network over a generous Carluccio’s breakfast. After interest was expressed in a more central location, the additional Breakfast Indaba Victoria was born.

Despite the 7am early start, there was a healthy turnout of representatives from a number SA-related enterprises and organisations, who each had the chance to present one-minute business pitches before tucking into a hearty helping of boerewors, bacon, eggs and toast. The listened attentively to a talk by guest speaker Cobus Visagie, a businessman and former South African rugby player. Visagie related the Rugby World Cup to business in terms of cycles, and presented his informed analysis of the Springboks’ strengths and weaknesses.

James Durrant of The South African concluded the meeting with a quote by Charles M Schwab: “The man who does not work for the love of work but only for money is not likely to make money nor find much fun in life.”

The guest speaker at the next Breakfast Indaba in Putney (13 October) will be councillor Jane Cooper, Mayor of Wandsworth. The Breakfast Indaba Victoria (20 October) will feature a talk by the South African High Commissioner Dr Zola Skweyiya.
