Johannesburg born and Cape Town raised, Simon Walker, the Director General of the Institute of Directors gave a fascinating talk on Wednesday.

 
Simon, who has worked as an adviser in Downing Street and as the Communications Secretary to Her Majesty The Queen, recounted his reasons for having to leave South Africa in the 1970s, having published a contentious article criticizing the apartheid police an a student journalist at UCT.  
 
Simon offered incredible insight into how the United Kingdom’s general election could impact businesses, and spoke about the IOD’s efforts to help reform the visa system.
