On 16 July, Board member Deloitte very kindly hosted an NPO seminar for SACC Charity members and affiliates of the SA-UK Trust Network. A part of the Chamber’s ongoing CSI initiatives, the seminar is hosted thrice a year to provide pragmatic business advice for charitable organisations.

July’s seminar saw three eminent guest speakers address vastly different aspects of the successful running of a non-profit. Tony Granger, MD ITAS Planning Ltd and Visiting Professor London Metropolitan University Business & Law School, spoke on bequest and legacy funding for non-profit organisations.

Claire Sessions, Founder of Charity Grid (a charity social network to match donors and recipients) addressed guests on this innovative new concept of matching donors and non-profit organisations online.

Lastly, Brendan Weekes, Manager at Smith & Williamson and the Chamber’s Treasurer, spoke on preventing fraud and corruption within non-profit organisations and red flags to warn of impending crisis.

The next seminar is expected to take place in September/October, with details to follow.
